It’s a man’s world.
And the best of all: women think this is changing.
That’s the best trick of them all.
They are actively fighting for their “right” to wear nothing but their sunglasses when they get out to the beach.
This is why men really like going to the beach while women are anxious when they do so. We like seeing all this “fresh meat” leayed out there in front of our eyes, ready for detailed “optical inspection” so as to “choose” the best.
This is what men want.
This is what women hate.
On the other hand we have the burka. Symbol of “oppression”.
But wearing a burka also means that the woman wearing it is free of any criticism for her body. Others do not see her as a piece of meat, then judge her by what she says and does.
DO NOT GET ME WRONG!
Yes, burka IS a symbol of oppression!
But so is the bikini.
As soon as women start realizing that, a balance point will soon be found.
But even if they do not get it, no problem. Summer is getting closer. And I really enjoy strolling on the beach…

Women who don’t wear a bikini are raped or have acid thrown in their face. Lol
Depending on where you live… A sad truth…

If women are so victimized by having to wear bikinis, ahy do they do it? Why do they don belly button jewelry and tribal tattoos? All because they WANT men to look. They WANT to feel sexy and desired. Victimized? Hardly.
Well, it all depends. So we look at them. They make good bikini models, sure. So? How many Presidents that are women do you know? How many Prime Ministers? How many CEOs? Do you believe not enough (“not enough” is clearly an understatement, when for instance in western countries you can count women heads of state in the fingers of one hand) women in such positions is just a matter of chance or perhaps a matter of men being dramatically superior to women in all fields?
The reason there are fewer women filling the positions you mentioned is simply because women are the ones who become pregnant and therefore are typically more inclined toward being the one to raise children. There is some discrimination of women in the workplace, yes. This is simply because women have less roots planted in the workplace. The same goes for any minority group. No, this has nothing to do with oppression of women in general. The bikini is NOT a symbol of oppression. Only women with self-esteem issues think so. The bikini is the opposite. It is a celebration of the unique form that women were given. The burka, on the other hand, is a symbol of complete and utter oppression. It represents a man’s ownership of a woman. Talk about objectification and “reducing to a piece of meat.”
The burka represents the simplification of a woman into an object.
The bikini represents the appreciation of the complexities of a woman’s physical form.
Howard, women “are the ones who get pregnant”? Really?!? Wow! This really rocked my world, did not know that. And I suppose they should raise the children on their own? How did they get pregnant? Do you happen to know that little “detail”? And what does the “they have less roots” argument even mean? Any minority has less roots. But this is not a reason for discrimination. And in the case of women, they are not even the minority in society! So what are you really talking about? Regarding the bikini and how it is or it is not a means to objectify women, just ask your self: What do you see when you see a woman in a bikini? I know it is a hard question with many possible answers (ass, boobs, legs, etc) but please try to answer it. And you will see for your self…
What I see when I see woman in a bikini is a person who is proud to show their body. The same way an artist is proud to show their work in a gallery. End of story.
By minority, I am referring to being the minority in the workplace. Women have less representation in the workplace because they have only really started getting integrated into the workforce barely a century ago. My point is that women are simply being discriminated because the workplace is men-dominated. It has nothing to do with the fact that they are women. It has to do with the fact that they have less history in the workforce.
The workplace issue for women is an isolated issue. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with whether or not men see women as objects. By talking about ideas of “objectification” you distract from the real issue at hand: the stereotype that women should not be workers. This is no different from any other stereotype. For example, black people being underrepresented in the programming world and therefore thought to be less capable programmers. Do you see a black man in the gym lifting weights with his shirt off and think, “Hey, that’s objectification of the black males’ body! That must have something to do with why there aren’t many black programmers!”
And WHY should she show her body? For you to see. And see what? Surely not her brain… This is the objectification my friend. And yes, women are a minority in the workplace and this contributes to the problem, but the root causes are deeper. If this was the only cause, then at some point we would have equality. However the percentage of women in high ranking positions is still very low. Surely this does not happen because we love women for their… brains.
A woman should show her body if she wants to show her body. If she doesn’t want to, then she shouldn’t. And there are many women who do want to show their bodies. No, not because they are pressured to. Because they want to. The same way a muscular man likes to flex in the gym.
Yes, there are women who worry about appearance out of pressure. There are also many men who worry about their appearances out of pressure. Women are not being singled out.
Women aren’t forced to wear bikinis. They choose to. Women are, however, forced to wear burkas.
The very concept of your article, even if it is a joke, is extremely offensive.
A burka is a symbol/act of oppression.
A bikini is a symbol of choice and freedom.
News flash: “attractive” women have easier times getting hired than their less attractive peers. This is statistically proven. If your theory about objectification leading to discrimination was true, then the attractive women would be less likely to be hired because being sexually attractive means you are more likely to be objectified in the way you are describing.
The ONLY problem women still face in the US is occasional workplace discrimination. This is simply caused by the tradition of a men-driven workforce. If all the feminists focused their energy on that issue instead of this nonexistent concept of “objectification,” then the world would be a much better place.
All this concern about objectification of women is absolutely repulsive. It is a complete illusion that simply distracts from legitimate issues.
The current feminism movement is spearheaded by men anyway, so go figure. They are probing at insecure women to rally them up. This talk about objectification of women is just a ploy to create buzzwords and ultimately just generate revenue for the ringleaders behind it.
Well, the “there are women who worry about appearance out of pressure” is the understatement of the century. Appearance is the top priority of most women today and that is because men have appearance as such an important factor when seeing a woman. And as much as the burka seems oppressive to you, believe it or not, there are cultures which do have traditional costumes much like the burka and you could even cry out “Oh, how cute” when you see them in the context of differentiation and world heritage. In the same way the “wear bikini” is imposed to women, they do not CHOOSE to be anxious on how hey look every time they go to relax to a beach, trust me. The fact that women with good appearance have more chances of getting a good job is an argument in favor of the objectification I am referring to. Yes “being sexually attractive means you are more likely to be objectified” this is correct. And this is what men do at work. They objectify women. They choose to work with women who are beautiful because they do not even care about their brain, knowledge or character. They do not care if they are good at work. They just want a good ass around. THIS is objectification.
Men put burkas on women so that other men could not see them. So that the woman would be theirs and theirs only. On top of that, these men had multiple wives. For centuries women have literally been escaping from countries where burkas are imposed.
Now lets say sexually attractive women are hired just so that men can “have a good ass around.” Let’s call this “objectification.” By the logic that objectification leading to discrimination, these sexually attractive women should be more discriminated than their less attractive peers. Sorry, but there is absolutely no statistic that reflects that theory. In fact, it is shown that in both women and men that having “good looks” results in receiving better treatment.
Even if there is “objectification” happening, it has absolutely no tangible connection to any practical form of discrimination.
