Astronomy. “Small” big errors. Science as the king. Forever! No matter what! (really, everything goes!!!)

49 Lib, a relatively bright star in the southern sky, is twelve billion years old rather than just 2.3 billion. For many decades, researchers were stumped by conflicting data pertaining to this celestial body, because they had estimated it as much younger than it really is. Determining its age anew, astronomers have now successfully resolved all inconsistencies. (1)

Astronomy. The “science” where making a… “small” correction of just 400% is considered simply…

OK. And why not?

After all, it is science!

And in science you can say whatever you want. Based on “data” and “proof” of course. And then you can change what you said! Based on… data and proof again of course! And then you can… Well, you get the meaning. All it matters is science. Not evidence, which seem inadequate. Not even proof, which seem not to prove anything. Just say the magic word: S-C-I-E-N-C-E! Yiiiihhhaaaaaa!!!

Oh, by the way. What I just wrote is wrong. And I will change it. Over and over again. Because I thought of something else. And then I will change it again because… Well… You get the meaning. H-A-R-M-O-N-I-A P-H-I-L-O-S-O-P-H-I-C-A!!!! J

Materialistic dogmatism in modern science. Just another example of the many…

[…] the rise of modern neuroscience has seen a more pragmatic approach gain ground: an approach that is guided by philosophy but doesn’t rely on philosophical research to provide the answers. Its key is to recognise that explaining why consciousness exists at all is not necessary in order to make progress in revealing its material basis – to start building explanatory bridges from the subjective and phenomenal to the objective and measurable.

In my work at the Sackler Centre for Consciousness Science at the University of Sussex in Brighton, I collaborate with cognitive scientists, neuroscientists, psychiatrists, brain imagers, virtual reality wizards and mathematicians – and philosophers too – trying to do just this. And together with other laboratories, we are gaining exciting new insights into consciousness – insights that are making real differences in medicine, and that in turn raise new intellectual and ethical challenges. In my own research, a new picture is taking shape in which conscious experience is seen as deeply grounded in how brains and bodies work together to maintain physiological integrity – to stay alive. In this story, we are conscious ‘beast-machines’, and I hope to show you why. […] (1)

This is how an article written by a scientists reads in the beginning!

Impossible. And yet true.

Modern dogmatism is just crude. The “material basis” is just something scientists now state at the BEGINNING of their papers/ articles, as if it is something self-evident. They use the very same thing they should be looking to analyze as BASIS for their conclusions!

This is how it always is minutes before collapse.

Arrogance brakes in…

Cornered in the dead-end of consciousness research, humans will someday have to face their worst and most fearsome enemy: Themselves…

And at the end, where Consciousness is waiting free from the bondage of the material body, the truth awaits smiling.

A faint smile…

Cannot be detected with an MRI…

The fascism of scientism has a name: Richard Dawkins… “The state needs to ‘protect’ children from religion and their… parents” (!)

In an interview prior to a speech at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland, last week, Dawkins told the media that parents have too much influence in their children’s education, especially when it comes to religion.

“There is a balancing act and you have to balance the rights of parents and the rights of children, and I think the balance has swung too far towards parents,” Dawkins told the Irish Times. “Children do need to be protected so that they can have a proper education and not be indoctrinated in whatever religion their parents happen to have been brought up in.”

He added, “You have to write off those people” who value the Bible over science.

Dawkins was in Ireland, along with physicist Lawrence Krauss as part of a tour promoting Arizona State University’s Origins Project. “And parents of course have concerns and a say, but they don’t have the right to shield their children from knowledge,” Krauss said. “That’s not a right any more than they have the right to shield their children from health care or medicine. And those parents that do that are often tried and imprisoned when they refuse to allow their children to get blood transfusions or whatever is necessary for their health. And this is necessary for their mental health.” [1]

Meet the religion of today.

It is not called religion and yet it is.

It is called “Love for science”, a.k.a. “scientism”.

Practiced by people BELIEVING that science will answer all metaphysical questions, even when these are not even part of the realm of science.

Meet the new fascism.

It is not called fascism.

It is called “Love for knowledge”.

Practiced by people who believe only their knowledge is the correct one. By people who speak for tolerance and yet they are intolerant to any other opinion than their own.

Meet the old religion.

In the beginning it was not called religion either.

It was called “Love”.

Practiced by people who just believed in… love. By people who had answered all the great metaphysical problems. In their heart. Now. By people who were tolerant, even to their enemies while they slaughtered them.

Now go and watch out of the window.

Is the rain coming?

I believe in science! What?!?

It is the year 2016 and Hillary Clinton’s nomination acceptance speech contained the simple phrase: “I believe in science”. She punctuated it with a chuckle while the audience roared its support. “I believe that climate change is real and that we can save our planet while creating millions of good-paying clean energy jobs.” She had to laugh quietly to herself because the reaction was so startlingly positive. [1]

This is the new era of scientific religion.

One must believe in it.

It is so clear that people now clearly say so, openly.

It does not matter whether you understand it or not.

It only matters that the priests (scientists) said so.

Once upon a time we had a religion which was proved day and night into our hearts. Now we have bosons and dark matter and elusive parallel universes which can never touch us in any tangible way.

Once upon a time we had true science.

Now we have religion.

The battle against dogmatism

Harmonia Philosophica has for a long time now fought the battle against dogmatism. And as we all know, dogmatism is now bred inside the realms of science, which serves as the new religion of our ages. To that end, I have managed to comment on every important science or technological or societal advancement, trying to pinpoint the philosophical dogmatism hidden behind the nice headlines, so that everyone can see what is in front of their eyes.
