Supersymmetry. True? False? Does it matter?

A beautiful but unproved theory of particle physics is withering in the harsh light of data.

For decades, many particle physicists have devoted themselves to the beloved theory, known as supersymmetry. But it’s beginning to seem that the zoo of new particles that the theory predicts – the heavier cousins of known particles – may live only in physicists’ imaginations. Or if such particles, known as superpartners, do exist, they are not what physicists expected.

New data from the world’s most powerful particle accelerator – the Large Hadron Collider, now operating at higher energies than ever before – show no traces of superpartners. And so the theory’s most fervent supporters have begun to pay for their overconfidence — in the form of expensive bottles of brandy. On August 22, a group of physicists who wagered that the LHC would quickly confirm the theory settled a 16-year-old bet. In a session at a physics meeting in Copenhagen, theoretical physicist Nima Arkani-Hamed ponied up, presenting a bottle of cognac to physicists who bet that the new particles would be slow to materialize, or might not exist at all.

Whether their pet theories are right or wrong, many theoretical physicists are simply excited that the new LHC data can finally anchor their ideas to reality. “Of course, in the end, nature is going to tell us what’s true,” says theoretical physicist Yonit Hochberg of Cornell University, who spoke on a panel at the meeting. The greatest BELIEF of all times.

The ultimate FAITH of atheists today.

And even though we see what we think…

Even though we think what we want…

Even though we listen to what we want to listen…

We BELIEVE that this thing called “REALITY” exists somewhere out there and we also firmly BELIEVE that we are capable of discovering and understanding it.

Never before did human kind been so arrogant in its strength.

Never before did human kind been so weak…

Think of a dead God.

And you will see Him dead…

And symmetric. Or assymetric. Who cares…

Self-programming software. Self-blinded humans.

DeepMind Technologies, a London-based artificial-intelligence firm acquired by Google this year, has revealed that it is designing computers that combine the way ordinary computers work with the way the human brain works. They call this hybrid device a Neural Turing Machine. The hope is it won’t need programmers, and will instead program itself. (1)

We make programs.
We program them to program.

We “see” other programs programming other programs.

We are stupid.

Or just blinded by what we want to see…

Telepathy experiment. The “lost” mind…

For the first time, scientists have been able to send a simple mental message from one person to another without any contact between the two, thousands of miles apart in India and France.

Research led by experts at Harvard University shows technology can be used to transmit information from one person’s brain to another’s even, as in this case, if they are thousands of miles away.

For the experiment, one person wearing a wireless, Internet-linked electroencephalogram or EEG would think a simple greeting, like “hola” or “ciao”.

A computer translated the words into digital binary code, presented by a series of 1s or 0s.

Then, this message was emailed from India to France, and delivered via robot to the receiver, who through non-invasive brain stimulation could see flashes of light in their peripheral vision. (1)

We believe in the immaterial.
We believe in the invisible.
We believe in the mind.

Because we know there is more than what our eyes tell us.

Even though we will never admit it, we try to build mind.

If only we knew we already have one…

Turn off consciousness… So?

That’s what doctors at George Washington University in Washington, D.C., inadvertently discovered while evaluating a 54-year-old woman with epilepsy. The researchers realized that by using electrodes to deliver tiny jolts of electricity to a particular region of the woman’s brain, they could control her consciousness almost as if they had an on-off switch. (1)

But can you turn off Existence?

Turn the TV on.
Turn the TV off.

There you go!
We have proven that…

Seeing with data. Seeing with your eyes. New vs. Old.

The Boeing 777 airliner that has been missing for more than two weeks crashed into the southern Indian Ocean, killing all 239 passengers and crew, according to a fresh analysis of the satellite data broadcast by the stricken Malaysia Airlines plane.
The news that relatives had dreaded came in an announcement by Malaysia’s prime minister Najib Razak, who said an analysis by the UK’s Air Accident Investigation Branch (AAIB) and the London-based satellite services provider Inmarsat was of a type never before performed on air incident data. But he is confident in its conclusions. (1)

An aricraft down.
Not because we saw it.
But because the data says so.

Seeing without seeing…
A priviledge of our era.
An era which takes pleasure in ridiculing past days where people were “superstitious”.

But these people had only their senses to rely on.
These people understood the world not through their “logic” but through their experience.
They were true “materialists”.
They were the ones who relied only on evidence.

And they saw (literally) the soul of the cosmos.
They were able to see their importance.
They could sense their immortality.
They could know their spirit.
We are now blind, relying only on our inner beliefs to claim that we are nothing.
Our inner eye has lost its sight.

Open your eyes if your want to see the truth.

Without any “data”…
