Peoples, TV, killing, “not-knowing”…

When Louie Psihoyos asked people in Japan if they knew about the slaughtering of dolphins that Japanese fishermen conducted (see “The Cove” for that), no one “knew”… Well, but then again people there believe that mercury poisoning in Minamata was a random disease, that it was good to have nuclear plants near the coast or that the Fukushima area is now “safe” since the government “told them”…

And not for one moment think that this is about Japanese people only. People here in Greece are the same. In USA, France, UK and other countries you can see similar phenomena of misinformation and people accepting this “information”.

Knowing is more than hearing the radio or watching TV…

Knowing is NOT “understanding” !

Shestov said that knowing is not the same at all with “understanding”. When you try to understand something you innevitably destroy it so as to make it fit into your way of thinking, into the little category boxes you have in your mind. Whenever you try to “understand”, you end up with completely waste the initial “thing” you were trying to analyze (unless you are the ultimate God with unlimited access to the unlimited possibilities of reality)… Stop doing that! Just know the world around you. Do not try to understand it!
