A movie not like any other movie. [1]

So many comments and different views. [2, 3, 4, 5, 6]

The mysterious dualism of Life and Knowledge.

The search for Immortality.

Ascending towards a light.

Triangles. Rectangles. Spheres.

Love.

A connection. A separation.

A dying star as the path to death and life. [7, 8, 9, 10]

Look for films which failed commercially. [11]

And you will find Art.

US movies, Justice and the Cowboys [SPOILER ALERT… for everything!]

I recently watched “The Vanishing” with Jeff Bridges and Kiefer Sutherland. … The movie promotes the idea of personal vengeance as so many other american movies. It shows a hero who is just in so great danger that he must kill the bad guy on the spot. [Valia]

Think about it. How many times have you seen the bad guy go to court? How many have you seen him dead by someone who is NOT a law officer?

What we actually think is hard to hide. And the Americans do not even try to hide their cowboy roots. Our duty is at least to achknowledge it. To know it. To consciously pay attention to it. Justice is NOT killing someone. Justice is a institution which has grown to full maturity for thousands of years in Europe. And it is time for the US to learn that simple fact.

Think hard every day. Try to understand what you actually see. You are an active citizen. Not a passive reciever!

Star Trek, cinema, refunds.

Projections for “Star Trek Into Darkness” have surged in the past week, putting J.J. Abrams’ space epic sequel on track to take in more than $100 million at the box office over its extended debut weekend. [1]

Don’t misunderstand me. I am a BIG fan of sci-fi. But success in cinema is a bit… pre-mature/ preemptive if I might say.

Huge advertisement leads to huge sales. But it is only AFTER seeing the movie that the spectators can tell if the movie is good. And there are no refunds… Paradise for marketeers. No way to be wrong here. 🙂

PS. I would gladly pay for the Star Trek film though…

Argo vs. “Oscars” 1-0

Some movies are just GOOD movies. [1]

Some other movies are made FOR winning the Oscar. [Valia]

The former are the ones you enjoy watching (e.g. Argo). The latter are the ones that say something already said before. Movies you feel like enjoying, can’t be sure if you REALLY liked them though (e.g. Lincoln). And then the critics of the Oscars come and tell you that you were right – you SHOULD have been enjoying the film!

It seems to me like NOT winning the Oscar (or even better not even being nominated for one) is a safe criterion to WATCH a movie!
