Prudery: Can it be taught?

Michelle Obama's Oscars dress

Iran news media, “dressed up” Michelle Obama in the Oscars ceremony. [1]

Her dress was too much for them to show to their viewers.

Without referring to the case of Michelle (I do not think her dress was all that provocative that such a move from the Iranian media was needed), these is a real question here about our society:

Can prudery, ethics and decency be “taught”? Can Iran really impose such things onto its citizens?

And vice versa: Does our society make us less dignified with all these porn-like advertisements we see every day?

What are the limits of our “free” will in an environment where we are bombarded with all this data and information and role models?

Modern Icons: Rise quick, fall fast…

The case of Oscar Pistorius [1] is not unique. Despite of whether he is found guilty or not, one thing is for sure: In an era of rush, we rush too much to declare someone a Saint. Maybe because we need them more than ever…

Old scholars needed decades or even hundreds of years to be accepted by others as “important”. Now “important” is as fast as a 100-yard-dash…

O tempora o mores!
