BEFORE studying philosophy...

be_original

Before you start reading philosophy, it would be very good to do this: sit down seriously and write down on paper (or. Doc) your views and philosophical positions as you are now! Document what you think before your thought gets influenced by what you read. The original innocent thought that you now have, before you are infused with "knowledge" from all these philosophy books out there, is the only thing that will actually have value at the end. Remember that in philosophy ONE thing is true: every great philosopher has his own view and for each view there are a dozen other great thinkers who have EXACTLY the opposite view! Do not regard anyone as an authority! Listen to yourself!
