Free Blogging Advice: Backup!

Things change rapidly.

Thing change every day.

Once upon a time I started blogging at Google Knol.

One day, after many articles were written, guess what.

Google Knol announced that it closes!

So I had to backup everything locally and transfer all my content to WordPress. Fortunately in this case, the vendor I used (Google) was professional enough to give a heads up so that every content creator had time to adjust and migrate to another platform.

DO NOT TAKE THIS FOR GRANTED.

Within todays VUCA environment (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous) there are many reasons why you should worry about your content and take local backups to ensure you have everything saved just in case.

From political drastic changes, to disputes between superpowers (e.g. US and China) that could disrupt services widely used (rf. for example to the case of Tik Tok), to simple discontinuation of products (like in the example above), one can never be too careful. And anyway, it costs literally nothing to take a backup of your valuable site, right?

So go and take a backup now.

Store it somewhere and then... relax and go back to creating content as usual.

In WordPress it is really simple.

Just to to the Setting and the Export option...

And then select "Export all" to export all content.

That's it!

This will initiate a download of all your content and soon everything will be downloaded in your laptop. You can then relax and watch the world come to an end while your data are safe and sound...

Note: In Blogger the process is similar. Just go to Settings and there your will also find an option to export all your site's content.
