Changing the brain. Closing the TV…

Scientists showed that they could alter brain activity of rats and either wake them up or put them in an unconscious state by changing the firing rates of neurons in the central thalamus, a region known to regulate arousal. The study, published in eLIFE, was partially funded by the National Institutes of Health. (1)

Increasing the level of a certain DNA-modified enzyme in the brain significantly improves cognitive ability. The discovery was made by the research team led by Prof. Dr. Hilmar Bading at the Interdisciplinary Center for Neurosciences of Heidelberg University. Mouse experiments showed that the Dnmt3a2 protein can boost memory performance in the animals. Because this protein also affects fear memory and the ability to erase bad memories, the researchers hope these findings can be used to develop new treatments for post-traumatic stress disorder and other forms of anxiety. The results of the research were published in the journal Molecular Psychiatry. (2)

One word: TV.

Remember the TV analogy when discussing about consciousness and the mind!

Everything we see in science today can be explained by the “Brain produces consciousness” and the “Brain is a receiver of consciousness” as well! Read some William James. And be careful to what you believe you do. As a TV works, changing it can change what you see, but the signal will remain the same…

Not seeing something, does not mean it is not there.

Close the TV.

The dreams are still there…
