Psychologists have made a brain-related discovery that could revolutionize doctors’ perception and treatment of attention-deficit disorders (ADHD). This discovery opens up the possibility that environmental and/or genetic factors may hinder or suppress a specific brain activity that the researchers have identified as helping us prevent distraction. Free will sacrificed for the sake of gene-based determinism.

We are becoming slaves to our fate.

But maybe it is not our fault.
Maybe it is in our genes to be stupid.

How convenient.
The path of stupidity is always the easiest one…
And, by the way, has a lots of money.

I call it Intelligence Deficit Disorder.
And I hereby order all psychiatrists into specific treatment for it.

Babies. Health screening. Stupidity.

WILL my baby be healthy? It’s a question that concerns every prospective parent. Now a service that creates digital embryos by virtually mixing two people’s DNA will give a clearer glimpse of their possible child’s health, and perhaps much more – before it has been conceived.

The Matchright technology will be available in two US fertility clinics later this month, allowing people to screen out sperm donors who, when their genes are combined with those of the intended mother, could increase the risk of a child inheriting genetic diseases. The company that markets the technology, GenePeeks, hopes to expand worldwide. (1)

We want to screen everything.
We want to control everything.

As if we know everything.
As if we understand everything.

But we do not know what life is.
We do not know (subsequently) what death is.
We do not know (subsequently) what health is!

Hell, we do not even know how to stop the flu!

What would you say to your kid if it wanted to take control of your car? Or even better, of an airplane? Or maybe of ISS?
Must Nature come alive and SLAP us hard in the face in order for us to get a grip?

Huh?

Noah’s Ark and the stupidity of modern ecology.

GENETICS could help solve the Noah’s Ark problem: faced with limited space, which species do you save? Focusing on the most evolutionarily unique and ancient species could allow us to save more branches of the tree of life, at the lowest cost and effort. (1)

We do not love nature.
We do not trust nature.

We believe we know better, we believe we can “fix” things.
We have the arrogance of a small child.

Soon enough, we will realize our stupidity.
And our mother will forgive us.
She always does.

Maths, genes, anxiety, silence.

A new study of math anxiety shows how some people may be at greater risk to fear math not only because of negative experiences, but also because of genetic risks related to both general anxiety and math skills. The results don’t mean that math anxiety can be blamed solely or even mostly on genetic factors, the researchers emphasized. In this study, genetic factors explained about 40 percent of the individual differences in math anxiety. (1)

So this could also mean the reverse: that love for maths is attributed to genetic factors as well.

Who decides which of the two if best?
Who decides that maths are to be loved?
Who decides if this are the eyes through which we should look at the world?

Is love for maths natural? Or unnatural?
Believing in any of the two is weird…

Perhaps that is why Pythagoras used silence…

People in the “brainy circles” of our hypocritical society talk about diversity. But how much are differences really valued? “I wonder”, a mother of a child with Down’s Syndrome writes, “whether my friends and colleagues would recognize the value of a child who was slower, less capable and more dependent”… (1)

Love is hard to find. And even harder to give.

Take a nap. Watch TV. Don’t care about people with problems or children with genetical problems. You will not see them anyway. You will not let them be born. Being active is hard.

Giving your hand is hard. Being passive is easy. Live and let DIE…
