Changing brain, Constant self...

It is now common knowledge that the human brain is changing constantly until the day of our physical death. Brain plasticity has given hope for the curfe of many illnesses that we thought could not be cured. However a most important problem emerges, which materialists deliberately overlook: If the brain changes constantly, then how can we be the "same person" very passing second? How is "I" defined if it is solely based on matter which changes all the time? Not seeing the obvious is a characteristic of dogmatic people. And a detective which says "The killer is not in the basement, because I am afraid to look down there" is not a good detective...
